Description

Cast iron is the ultimate instrument for cooking due to heat accumulation and gradual release of heat.

Cast iron is the age old solution for non-stick pans and unlike other cooking instruments such as Teflon coating (hazardous chemicals), cast iron is eco-friendly.

Cast iron boasts excellent longevity and even old and worn pieces are easily refurbished with a little elbow grease. Cast iron is durable and able to sustain high temperatures without mechanical damage.

Due to cast iron’s heat retention properties, food is cooked evenly at a uniform temperature and thus delivers superior flavours.

Combining our cast iron cauldrons with our Artisan Tandoors will deliver the complete outdoor cooking set! You will be able to cook using the Tandoor’s wood-fire: Plovs/Pilafs, Paella, Biryani, Seafood stews, Curries and much more!

Instructions / Care

How to season:

  1. Scrub the Cauldron well in hot soapy water using a sponge (no metal abrasives)
  2. Dry thoroughly with clean cloth
  3. Evenly spread a thin layer of vegetable oil, melted shortening, or canola oil over the Cauldron
  4. Place it upside down in the oven at 180-200°C and leave to bake for one hour.
  5. Leave to cool in oven.
  6. Store in a dry place

How to clean:

  1. Clean the Cauldron immediately after use, while it is still hot or warm. Don’t soak the pan and leave it in the sink as that will encourage rust.
  2. Wash the Cauldron by hand using hot water and soft sponge. Avoid using dishwasher, soap or steel wool as that will strip the Cauldron’s seasoning.
  3. Dry the Cauldron thoroughly using cloth or paper towel (oven can also be used over low heat).
  4. Using a cloth or paper towel, apply a light coating of vegetable oil or shortening to the inside of the Cauldron (you may also opt to do the outside).
  5. Store in a dry place.
