Instructions / Care

Instructions for use

  1. Before first use, wipe the entire surface of the stone with a damp cloth.
  2. DO NOT immerse the stone in water and NEVER wash under running water.
  3. If the stone comes into contact with water, ensure it is completely dried in a natural environment prior to use. Never expose a wet stone to the Tandoor or any heated environment.
  4. Warm the stone in the Tandoor for 30 minutes prior to use. You may lower it on the rack into the Tandoor to warm it up.
  5. After the stone is warmed up, you may put your pastry, pizza or bread of choice on it and bake in the Tandoor until cooked.
  6. For safety and convenience, we recommend using a wooden spatula for removing food from the stone after cooking.
  7. You may sprinkle the stone with flour prior to placing your food on it for cooking. It may also be useful to sprinkle the spatula with flour.

Instructions for care

  1. Remnants of flour or burnt food can be removed with a dry cloth or by carefully scraping with a knife or dry/slightly damp sponge of medium hardness.
  2. Wipe the stone only with a dry or damp cloth and never soak in water.
  3. Due to the stone being made of natural clay, after prolonged or repeated use, dark spots from burnt dough may appear, or small irregularities and scratches on the surface.  This does not impair the properties of the stone and is a natural occurrence.
  4. DO NOT oil the stone.
  5. DO NOT place the stone in a dishwasher.
  6. DO NOT use detergents.
  7. DO NOT immerse in water.
